Adjustable Bed Info for Occupational Therapists, NDIS Participants, and Carers

How Adjustable Beds Support Independence and Care Needs

For occupational therapists, NDIS participants, and carers, choosing the right adjustable bed is about more than just comfort—it's about enhancing mobility, reducing strain, and improving quality of life. Whether assisting a client, managing a disability, or caring for a loved one, an adjustable bed can provide critical support by easing movement, reducing pressure points, and improving sleep quality.

At Better Living Australia, we specialise in therapeutic adjustable beds designed to meet a range of medical, mobility, and lifestyle needs. Our beds offer custom positioning, height adjustability, and whole-body support, making daily care and independence easier for both the user and their support network.

I'm just starting my NDIS application, how long will it take for approval?

It really depends on how prepared you are with the documentation that is required by NDIS. We are advised that the NDIS aims to approve your first plan within 70 days after you become a participant, however it could take longer if you are not prepared.

How do you receive payment once it is approved by the NDIS?

Once your plan has been approved, your Case Manager will transfer the money for the adjustable bed directly to Better Living Australia, once we have received the payment, we will arrange for delivery.

What do I need to quality for the NDIS?

To qualify for the NDIS you need to have a permanent disability that significantly affects your ability to take part in everyday activities. You also need to be aged under 65 when you first apply to access the NDIS and you need to live in Australia and as an Australian citizen or hold a permanent Visa or hold a Protected Special Category Visa. To receive funding for an adjustable bed, it is important that you have Assisted Technology included in your package.

I'm over 65, can I get NDIS?

You must be under 65 to access the NDIS. However, you may be able to access other funding support or assistance through aged care options.

Are you a registered NDIS provider?

Yes, we are a registered provider with the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), and our beds are registered with the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA).

Do you deal with self managed funding or only through a plan manager?

We can deal with either. Generally you (the customer) will arrange the type that suits you. Normally you will have a case or plan manager who will assist you in the process.
